Blue Coat Leverages Enterprise Security Expertise to Provide Parents with Peace of Mind

Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BCSI), the technology leader in Application Delivery Networking, today announced that its free K9® Web Protection software has surpassed one million downloads by parents and other consumers seeking protection from Web-based malware and offensive content. As a part of the company’s corporate social responsibility initiative, Blue Coat provides K9 Web Protection at no cost, offering parents an easy way to control family access to offensive or inappropriate sites and protect against malware and phishing.

As the Internet has become woven into the fabric of society, malware has moved to the Web in an attempt to exploit unsuspecting Internet users. According to Sophos research, there is one new infected Webpage discovered every 4.5 seconds, many of which are on legitimate or trusted sites, Web-based malware exposes consumers to increased risk of infection or personal information theft.

“I've spent the better part of the last two weeks delving into research on Internet filters to use on a new family PC and, after trying numerous paid services and finding flaws and easy workarounds in each and every one of them, I was thrilled when I stumbled upon K9 Web Protection,” said Bryan Gibbs, a K9 Web Protection software user. “The installation was the easiest I've seen, the service is free, and I am receiving the best protection to date. I finally feel safe letting my kids on the Internet.”

K9 Web Protection relies on the same enterprise-class Web filtering technology used by Blue Coat enterprise customers around the world, and is wrapped in a simple, easy-to-manage software application that is compatible with both Mac and PC computers. To protect against newly discovered threats, K9 Web Protection is continuously updated by the WebPulse™ service, the Blue Coat cloud-based community watch environment that also updates Blue Coat WebFilter™ and ProxyClient® enterprise products. In this community watch environment, the identification of malware by one member is shared with all to prevent infections or other harm.

“In WebFilter, Blue Coat has best-in-class Web filtering technology, and now the community at large can benefit from our expertise in protecting users and their information against malicious content,” said Mikko Valimaki, chief scientist, Blue Coat Systems. “By extending that filtering technology in a free, easy-to-use software download, home users can get the same protection as our most demanding enterprise customers, with the confidence of knowing that their families are protected from the dangers of the Internet.”

K9 Web Protection software is an integral component of the Blue Coat proactive layered defense strategy. By sending Web requests to the WebPulse service, K9 software provides the community watch service with a diverse range of URLs for analysis. Blue Coat ProxyClient mobile software also sends Web requests to the WebPulse service for analysis, further increasing URL diversity to build a comprehensive profile of Web content. The breadth and depth of Web requests enables WebPulse to keep pace with and better protect against evolving threats.

There is something very frightening going on that most parents do not know about. While most people do realize that there are internet predators, they really don't understand how many and what kind of organized groups they hang out in. The following information will shock you. The fact is that there are pedophiles and sex offenders all over the internet - Just waiting for their next pray. Many of these sex offenders and pedophiles are very proud of their actions and thoughts; in fact, there are groups of these offenders trying to change laws in order to be able to indulge their sexual desires. (What a sick, sick world we live in) Most of them are convicted criminals and travel in circles of other convicted criminals - doing what? They are looking for vulnerable children online. This is a terrifying thought, isn't it? As parents, you need to be very proactive to keep your children safe.

Here are some important tips to keep your kids safe online.

- Do not allow your children to post pictures of themselves online (NEVER). Do not post pictures of your children on any social networking sites. Predators have been known to take pictures from online albums and post them on pedophile websites often editing them in photoshop.

- Pay very close attention to the people that your children communicate with online. Treat any online friend with caution. Many pedophiles and sex offenders try and lure children into conversation. According to many known experts, pedophiles will speak to a child or adolescent for weeks or months (sometimes years) before trying to set up a meeting with them.

- Should you find a suspicious person is e-mailing, chatting or instant messaging your teenager or child, you should find out who it is. There are some very easy ways to do this. One of the way is using parental software.

Parental Software is a site dedicated in bringing you the latest reviews on Internet activity monitoring programs. We have partnered up with an industry leading child monitoring software companies. We hope you find our guides and articles help you in becoming a better parent by becoming involved in your child's Internet activities. Predators are on the prowl and they are like wolves, protect your family today.

You can find out more about parental software by visiting: SentryProducts.Com
Shocking CBS Report. A story of a concerned father trying to keep his daughter safe from online predators. Featured in this CBS report is the Parental Software

In the following article we will review this Parental Control Software wonder by examining the options, windows compatibility and over all performance of this product. Does stand up to its claims? We believe so. What had us sold from the beginning is that your child's Internet activity can be monitored from any PC. Weather your at home, at the office or at a friends house checking up on your loved ones is as easy as finding access to the nearest computer. Other programs lack this feature therefore this one is at the top of our list. Gaining national popularity due to its functionality and low price it has been featured on networks such as CNN, CBS, Fox News and many online e-zine articles. Before making your decision not to follow through with trying to keep your kids safe we encourage you to watch this video. Remember that your kids can be trusted, its the other people on the Internet who cant. Being young its hard to distinguish a friend form a foe that's why its its a parents responsibility to protect them. You can do so by using Parental Software by Sentry Inc.

Things to know...

Don't be fooled !! Your kids are smarter than you ....
The first thing parents must realize is that their kids have far more superior computer skills. We all know that various child safety programs come built in with our operating systems. While they do serve some functionality they are considered obsolete. Teens these days are very computer savvy. Just consider this: Who spends more time on their computer? You or your kids? Its a no brainer that your child will develop skill on how to bypass built-in security measures. There are tons of "how to" sites made by teens that teach how to "get around" any Internet blocks you might have put up. This is why built in child safety programs do not work. They are well known by teens and bypassing them without you knowing is a matter of entering a few clever commands.

Internet Safety with Parental Control Software

Did you know that over 55 Million children use the internet on a weekly basis?
Did you that 1 in 5 of those children were sexually solicited online?
Did you know that only 18% of the most serious incidents were actually reported?

Unfortunately those statistics are true. That is why Sentry Parental Controls is dedicated to making the best of breed parental control software and providing users with unparalleled tools to promote Internet safety within their homes, work places, and organizations.

Protect Your Children Online While Online

Sentry's Parental Control Software truly provides your children with a safe online environment. A very critical component of their Internet safety software is the fact that the software is web-based. This means as a parent or administrator you no longer need to be in front of your child's computer to to check logs and change any settings. These features are available and easily accessible to you through their web site. All you need to do to get started is install the Sentry parental control on your child's computer then log into their website. No other software can do that. Does you kid have her own laptop? Well then he/she might have a problem with you constantly wanting to check her computer. With this software this problem is eliminated as you only need to access it once to install the parental control software. From then on everything can be reached via Sentry's website.

Why Choose Parental Controls?

Today many programs and operating systems come preinstalled with parental control software. Developers such as Microsoft, Apple, Norton, and McAfee acknowledge the problem and the abundance of internet porn, Internet sex predators, and very malicious content on the web and are attempting to make strides in protecting your kids while they browse the Internet.

The truth is that these pre-installed parental control software solutions are not the solutions for today's parents, especially those with tech-savvy children. We are faced with the dilemma that our children know more about computers than we do and continuously find ways around parental control software. It is important that when shopping for parental control software you find a solution that provides you with the real security of knowing that once you have installed the software you never need worry about your child finding a way around it. Its time to outsmart your kids, for their own good.

Sentry Parental Controls' products are designed from the ground up to prevent your child from turning off any of its features, in fact your child won't even know they are being monitored as the program runs quietly in the background. Sentry's line of products assist parents in managing what their children are allowed to do on the computer. The program controls help determine the programs they can use, the websites they can visit, the conversations they take part in, --- and when. The best part about Sentry's Parental Control products is that they are all web-based. This means you have the ability to view, check, and adjust your child's settings from any web browser in the world - Anytime !!. No other program on the net can do this, and that's why Sentry products get a high rating from our staff.

What Parental Control Users Are Saying

"I wanted to let you know the last 2 software filters I bought to protect my kids were bypassed by them in no time flat. I bought your Sentry At Home product and it is now over 7 months and counting without your product being bypassed. They came to me the other day and promised to follow the family rules we setup when using the computer, if I removed your product. Needless to say, it's staying on the computer. Thank you very, very much."

Jack Tennor - Nebraska

"Thank you. Your support is genuinely appreciated and SO refreshing…. In a day when it seems as if no company wants to actually ‘speak’ to their customer! Thanks again – I will recommend your products and services to ALL!"

Sue Rubin - Texas

"Thank you for caring about kids. All parents should have software like yours on their home computer. We would all love to trust our kids, but we must remember that they are just kids and they get in trouble from time to time. I think it is every parent's obligation to help protect their children against viewing pornography. I don't think young kids go searching for it, but I've come to realize how simple it is for them to stumble upon it."

Editorial Review.

To sum it up in the most non bias way Sentry has made a very affordable and reliable product. The low tag price equals only pennies a day which is inductively a no brainer. Over all this product got a 5/5 from our editorial staff. Reliability, compatibility and the ease of use is what sold us on this product. Being able to receive emails and text messages that let you know what your child is doing online (and who are they chatting with) is priceless. While reviewing a copy we were able to get 100% of the computers instant message logs, all emails, chat room logs, screen shots, websites visited, what the child was searching for and much more. This program ran in the background in stealth mode and only the person who installed it knows how to disable the program. The most amazing feature is that you are able to check what your kid is/was doing from any computer in the world. This is one sneaky program. We are worried that parent might start using this software on their spouse (unfaithful spouse) instead of children
